Granite or Quartz Countertops?
Granite is a natural, somewhat porous stone that requires sealing but is a little more resistant to heat. Quartz is manufactured, less heat-resistant, nonporous, and easier to maintain; the colors and designs also strongly affect how a kitchen looks.
Key takeaways
- Granite is a natural stone with some porosity and requires sealing as part of its maintenance.
- Granite is a little more resistant to heat, including the heat from a hot pot placed on the counter.
- Quartz is manufactured, has some heat resistance but less than granite, and does not need sealing because it has no porosity.
- Quartz is easier to maintain, and the selected colors and designs strongly influence how a kitchen looks.
Explanation
The Reel compares granite and quartz. Granite is a stone with some porosity, so it requires maintenance that includes sealing it. It is also a little more resistant to temperatures, such as when a hot pot is placed on the counter. Quartz is manufactured in factories. The Reel mentions a company located in Raleigh that manufactures in China and brings quartz from China. This quartz has some heat resistance, but less than granite; because it has no porosity, it does not need sealing and is easier to maintain. The colors chosen and the designs also strongly influence how a kitchen looks.

English version
Could granite or quartz be better? Granite is a stone, and as a stone it has some porosity; it requires some maintenance by being sealed. However, it is a little more resistant to temperatures, such as when a hot pot is placed on the counter. Quartz is manufactured; it is made in factories. Here I’m going to share a company that is located in Raleigh, that manufactures in China and brings quartz from China. That quartz has some resistance to heat, but it is not as resistant as granite. However, it has no porosity, therefore it does not need to be sealed and is easier to maintain. So it is a good decision. The colors chosen and the designs it has also greatly influence how a kitchen looks.
